The Best Southern Cities for a Honeymoon

Some folks prefer to stay local when they decide to celebrate their honeymoon. This is a great idea because the U.S. has so much to offer in terms of desirable destinations. Let’s go over some of the best cities that piqued our interest.

The Florida Keys

Located in Florida, as you might have suspected, the Florida Keys are a premier destination for honeymooners. Not only is Florida bustling with palm trees and sandy beaches, but the weather is amazing and the ocean is at your fingertips. The keys are 120 miles of islands. The resorts on these islands look to offer a romantic setting for couples. Some of the hotels are actually for adults only. You won’t even have to worry about seeing or hearing any children.

Of course, there is plenty to do such as boat rides, snorkeling, and boardwalk pursuit. The keys are constantly offering events that include music, drinks, and dancing. Check out some of the museums or even the Dry Tortugas National Park. This national park has the most undisturbed coral reefs of all the keys and is a host to tons of wildlife.

The most fun we can think of is just relaxing on the sandy shores and letting your problems drift away. No need to run around doing activities if you are simply just looking for a nice, mellow vacation. You won’t want to leave once your vacation is up so maybe consider moving here permanently? We’ll let you decide.

Memphis, Tennessee

Why do we love Memphis so much? It’s a great place to enjoy food and music. If you and your partner love dancing and eating BBQ, then Memphis is a perfect destination. We even encourage checking out Memphis houses for sale. This area is perfect for young couples to settle down and grow their family. One of the best places to visit is Beale Street. There are restaurants, venues, street performers, and an all-around amazing vibe.

This city is home to some of the most influential music genres such as blues and some roots of rock-n-roll. If you check out the Peabody Hotel, you can see the Peabody ducks as well! This may seem a bit weird but the ducks in this hotel are considered royalty to locals. Another weird yet amazing thing in Memphis is the pyramid. There is a pyramid built in the city because Memphis was named after a city in Egypt.

After dark is when the town comes to life. You’ll find neon signs lining Beale Street, pulling you into all of the fun and mystery of the city. Party all night and then grab breakfast at one of the local cafes. There’s so much food here and that’s part of why we recommend it for the honeymoon. What’s better than stuffing your face after you get married?

Savannah, Georgia

Savannah is a great honeymoon destination as it sits on the coast of Georgia. This city is whimsical and mysterious which makes it perfect for young couples traveling. Savannah is covered in Spanish moss, amazing Victorian architecture, and stories of the deep south. This city is the oldest in all of Georgia so you know you’re going to witness some awesome history.

Stay in some of the most beautiful resorts and historical places to give yourself the perfect backdrop for your honeymoon photos. Besides the sites, there is real southern hospitality here that makes you feel right at home. During the day, hit the beaches or Tybee Island. You can swim with dolphins or ride some jet skis. Another very romantic activity is a horse-drawn carriage ride through the historic cobblestone streets.

You won’t be disappointed with any of these U.S. honeymoon cities. Sometimes the best vacation is right in your backyard! No need to book a trip to another country. You could just visit the beautiful destinations right here in the U.S.
