A retired farming couple is rising a huge yard this summer months, in hopes of donating the veggies to neighborhood foods banking institutions.  

Melvin Kachur and his wife, Helen, live in Pansy, future to the hall, and claims they have about a two-and-a-50 %-acre backyard garden.  

“We’re cultivating it and we’re rising veggies for the meals banking institutions.” 

Kachur’s motto is “Let’s struggle hunger.”  

He notes with all the immigrants from Ukraine this year, and their own loved ones remaining of Ukrainian descent as very well, they preferred to do what they could to assist them out.  

He tells us what they are planting.  

“We’re placing in anything like 300 lbs . of potatoes and about 8,000 crops of peaches and product corn. Additionally, there will be tomatoes, 400 raspberry vegetation, and 2,000 strawberry plants.” 

When requested why they are performing this, Kachur replies, “Our goal is to donate what we can. We also want to sell the create and that income will go to the foodstuff banks in Grunthal and Vita.”

He provides, they also want to give some of the greens to the Ukrainian Association of the Southeast (previously the Ukrainian Settlement Undertaking Force), who will distribute them to Ukrainian family members in will need.

Kachur suggests he and his spouse have been doing the job in the back garden by themselves, but they are retired and would take pleasure in the enable.
